As part of the educational experience Saint Philip’s offers a Sacred Studies curriculum for PreK3 through Grade 5. Once a week each grade has time to learn and talk about our Christian Faith.  For the younger students the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ are presented through activities and Jesus’ stories.  Students in Grades 1 and 2 will experience age appropriate readings from the Bible.  Students in the upper grades will learn to use the Bible.  All grade levels will begin with prayer and learn that prayer is a way of talking and listening to God.  The theme for the entire program is to learn about God’s love for us, how to love ourselves and others through the teachings of Jesus.

The overarching theme for the sacred studies program is love of God and God’s unconditional love for the individual. The most important commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself and as Jesus loved us. Class begins with prayer and thanksgiving. Each lesson is a Bible story with a message about God’s love and an activity to demonstrate the lesson. Children attend Chapel two times a week, including one Eucharist service.
