Summer means relaxing and reading and a chance to be a member of Book Bounty! It is a long-standing tradition at St. Philip’s for students to keep track of their pages read over the summer to try and beat the librarians for most pages read in the summer. To participate, students need to record the book title and pages read for each book accomplished over the summer on the Book Bounty Summer Reading Log. If the student has grade-level required reading, it must be included in the books read. Even if a student doesn’t want to participate in Book Bounty, please have the student complete the reading logs so the classroom teacher knows which books were read over the summer. The Book Bounty Summer Reading Log is formatted to be printed and stapled to multiple sheets if needed so the students may turn them into their teachers the first week of school.
In August when we return, classroom teachers will collect the reading logs and give them to Mrs. Busta and Ms. Audrey. The pages will be tallied and the students who come the closest to meeting Mrs. Busta and Ms. Audrey’s number of pages read will join the Book Bounty Club and enjoy a reward in November with a fun field trip.
