What is a Capital Campaign?
Capital campaigns allow a school to enhance the physical plant — such as buildings and land acquisition, build an endowment, and plan for the future. Capital campaigns are usually the result of strategic planning. The campaign involves an extensive fundraising program that acquires gifts, at various levels. These pledges are often paid over a number of years.
Why a Capital Campaign for St. Philip’s?
The “Ensuring Excellence” campaign has expanded and renovated the St. Philip’s campus, enabling the School and Church to better accommodate its students and their families, Parishioners, Faculty and Staff, as well as future generations of St. Philip’s children and families.
A major project of the “Ensuring Excellence” campaign was the construction and completion of the new Library and Media Center. At the heart of St. Philip’s campus, our state-of-the-art Library and Media Center serves as an epicenter for learning, studying and personal growth. Students meet in the Library and Media Center to collaborate on all different types of projects and assignments, practice speeches and discuss current events, before, during and after school hours. Additionally, the Library and Media Center serves as a communal space where parents and Parishioners are welcome to congregate for Church and School-related meetings, events and receptions.
The new buildings and classroom enhancements have created an environment even more conducive to academic, spiritual and personal growth, which further supports our mission, “educate each child intellectually, physically, and spiritually in an atmosphere of inquiry and acceptance.” Most importantly, the Ensuring Excellence campaign has allowed St. Philip’s to remain at the forefront among top Episcopalian elementary schools.
