Educating our students physically is one of the three tenets of our mission. Today more than ever, children are living in a fast-paced, virtual reality, high-stress world. Studies after studies have shown that when children are under stress and pressure, their learning and well-being suffer.

To help our students cope with their ever-changing, high-stress world, St. Philip’s is committed to incorporating mindfulness practices into the school day across the grade levels. With the help of experts such as Dr. Kristen Race, we have developed healthy practices designed to help children manage stress and become more emotionally resilient.

These include:

  • Becoming aware of your breath
  • Noticing your thoughts
  • Paying attention to sounds
  • Focusing on sensations in your body
  • Eating mindfully
  • Dedicating time to be fully engaged and present with the people around you
